“Micro hassles” are minor annoyances that aren’t big enough to complain about. They’re more like an office “first-world problem“—too trivial to admit the annoyance when others have real problems. But on the internet, there’s a solution for everything, even micro hassles. A SmallBusiness.com user shared the following one with us. (He requested anonymity because “it’s not like it’s going to win me a Noble Prize or anything.”)

The Micro Hassle: Instructions are on one webpage, the task is on another

Let’s say you’re on a Google Sheets spreadsheet page wanting to do something you’ve never done before. Google has good step-by-step instructions, but they’re on another page. Your screen is too small to display both browser windows, so you must toggle between pages using multiple tabs, browser windows or virtual desktops. Doing all that toggling back and forth is annoying and you often forget the instruction a nanosecond after it goes out of sight.

The simple solution

Grab your smart phone and snap a photo of the instructions. Lay your smart phone by your laptop and follow the instructions. (Note: Yes, you could find the instructions on your smart phone’s browser, but we tested that option and the photo was faster.)

Step 1 | Snap shot of the instructions from your desktop or labtop.

snap

Step 2 | Within five seconds, the instructions are right there on a second screen.

Sidenote: Snapping photos of the instructions accompanying a new product and storing them in a document folder or an Evernote notebook will come in handy if you ever need to refer back to them—and never can find where you placed them.
