For users of Google Apps for Business, Google is adding stand-along apps to complement its “suite” approach to having its Docs, Sheets and Slides apps bundled into a mobile app called the Google Drive App. (Following that? It will make sense in a moment, we promise.)
“While the Drive app is a convenient place to store your stuff, we want to make it easier for you to quickly find, edit and create documents, spreadsheets, and presentations on the go,” Google’s Brian Levee, said in announcing the new apps.
The docs, sheets and presentations “cloud-based” apps will continue to be accessible by the Google Drive App. The standalone apps will come with offline support built in, so you’ll be able to view, edit and create files without an internet connection.
Android versions of the new stand-along apps are available on Google Play [Docs] [Sheets] (Slides coming soon) while the iOS (Apple) versions are available at the iTunes App Store [Docs] [Sheets].
